Sound Test

Verify your speaker is clear and distortion-free with a thirty-second audio quality check.

Sound Test — run it right here

The exact 30-second audio file the Android app uses for its quality check. Listen for clipping, rattle, or muffled output.

Before you start: unplug headphones, point your speaker toward the floor, and set your device volume to a comfortable level. This page runs the same tone the Android app uses, in your browser.

Press play and listen with your speaker.

The track plays clean tones and short audio clips. Hold the phone an arm’s length from your ear. A healthy speaker sounds full and free of buzz or rattle.

What it does

After cleaning, you want proof that the speaker actually sounds better. Sound Test plays a short, deliberately varied audio sequence so you can hear clipping, rattle, or muffled output instantly.

Use it before and after Water Eject or Dust Removal to confirm the difference, or run it stand-alone to decide whether your speaker needs hardware service.

Step by step

How to use it

  1. 01

    Choose a speaker

Pick Front (loud speaker, bottom edge on most phones) or Ear (earpiece used for calls).

  2. 02

Listen for the full thirty seconds

The test plays clean tones and short audio clips. Hold the phone away from your ear and listen for crackle, hum, or volume drops.

  3. 03

    Read the result

Clear, distortion-free playback means your speaker is healthy. Persistent crackle suggests a stuck particle or hardware damage.

Common questions

About Sound Test

What does a healthy speaker sound like?

Clean, full, and free of buzz or rattle. Bass tones should be present without distortion, and treble should not sound harsh or sandy.

I hear crackling — what now?

Run Water Eject and Dust Removal first. If crackle persists, the issue is likely a damaged driver or torn voice coil — a repair shop visit is in order.

Should I do this with headphones?

No. Sound Test is designed for the built-in speakers. Headphones bypass the speakers entirely.
